The Athena Programme celebrates 10 successful years

An award-winning Manchester-based Safeguarding training and consultancy company is celebrating 10 innovative years in business this month.

The Athena Programme is recognized throughout the UK for its bespoke approach to educating and facilitating others in the protection of children and adults at risk.

Headed by Sarah Carlick, its founder and Managing Director, it has become a trail blazer for delivering vital compliance and training to decision makers and their teams, both in the private, public and voluntary sector.

To mark the 10th anniversary in April 2017, Sarah and the Athena team will be revisiting some of the highlights of her awareness and training campaigns since beginning the company from her home in Lancashire.

Sarah said:

“We at Athena have dedicated and committed ourselves over the past ten years in refining, updating, and providing bespoke safeguarding training and consultancy to leadership teams, practitioners and volunteers within communities and organizations.

We have been honoured to with work with more than 200 customer organizations spanning ten different sectors in the public, private and voluntary sector. These include one international customer, over 50 national organizations and over 100 regional or smaller organizations. The entrepreneurial success of Athena cannot be measured in money alone and perhaps the true measure of the business is the value of its ethical impact on society.

Over 20,000 people have been trained on safeguarding and over 600 consultancy days have been provided writing and advising on governance, policy and procedures. Fundamentally Athena’s caring approach makes protection real”.

To celebrate their successful 10 years and to thank their loyal customers, they have had limited-edition Brite docks specially made.  These desktop mobile phone stands will be a constant reminder to its owner that The Athena Programme is always with them 24/7.

Sarah has gained critical acclaim for not only her professionalism but her devotion to others. Her already busy schedule is also taken up with being ambassador for Target Ovarian Cancer, a subject close to her heart after losing her mother to cancer. Indeed, Sarah was found to have the potentially life threatening BRCA gene and opted for preventative surgery.
